The Twin Jet Nebula, M2-9, Minkowski's Butterfly or the Wings of a Butterfly Nebula is a bipolar planetary nebula discovered by Rudolph Minkowski in 1947. The nebula is a cloud of gas ejected from a hot star nearing the end of its life, a white dwarf, located at its center. This star has a companion star making it a binary star system. It lies in the constellation Ophiuchus and is approximately 2,100 light years from Earth.
